Social Media Tools That Help You Work Smarter, Not Harder
This past week my first post in the Interprose PR Voice blog went live! I thought I’d share it here as well. Always looking for feedback; let me know what you think! Blog post originally found here. Social Media Examiner’s 2014 Social Media Marketing Industry Report surveyed more than 2,800 marketers with the goal of understanding how they are using social media to grow and promote their businesses. A surprising 85 percent feel like they don’t know what tools are best. With new…

Life Update
It’s been a couple of months since my last post…I’ve been a bit busy. After 5+ years as the PR and Marketing Manager with EnerNex, the time had come to move on. I am now newly employed with the McDonnell Group as the Marketing Account Manager. McDonnell Group, based out of Atlanta, Georgia, is a full service marketing and public relations firm focused on the energy and utility industry. It’s official, my bio is on the website. I can’t say enough great things about…

A Little Schooling on the Subject of Instagram
Yesterday I attended the webinar: “How to Generate Massive Traffic with INSTAGRAM.” Hosted by Brooke Ballard of B Squared Media (@B2MediaLLC) and presented by Jenn Herman (@jenn_trends) the 90 minute session focused on the reasons Instagram is so important, how to perfect your profile, and ultimately generate traffic for your business via this wildly used social tool. I highly recommend you check out her slides; it’s good stuff. Let me add, I am so impressed with B Squared Media’s post-webinar follow-up. Attendees were sent a thank you for attending email…

Utilities + Social Media: Cases Where It’s Working.
For utilities, connecting with consumers via social media channels is ideal for outage communication and customer interaction. Think about all the rich content that could be pumped to the consumer all in an effort to engage, educate, and promote. Here are three utilities I see that are doing it right. Southern California Edison (SCE) SCE is dominating the utility space in Instagram land. Not only do they post neat pictures of linemen at work, substations, transmission poles, and scenic sunsets, but they also encourage…

Ok, Ok, I’ll Go Network…
Today I was reminded that human interaction is always a good thing. These days it’s much more comfortable for us to sit at the computer and connect virtually. It means we don’t have to produce much effort in order to feel ‘networked.’ Yet every time I go to a local event in the community, I always leave invigorated/inspired/motivated. In the digital world we’re in, it’s so easy for us to like, follow, and connect without having to actually shake hands.…

Don’t Quack like a Duck.
My husband and I went on a run around the lake near our house the other day. As we were rounding a corner, there was a duck all reared up and little ducklings under her wings. You could tell that mamma duck was MAD and did NOT want us to come near her or her young. She was on the attack for sure. It totally startled me and I ran as far around her and her clan as possible. My…

Be Courageous.
I had lunch with the ever-inspiring social media consultant Mark Schaefer yesterday. The hour was jam packed with all sorts of advice and really cool stories. He was kind enough to provide guidance on both the personal branding and corporate marketing fronts. He said several things I jotted down in my notebook – when he speaks, you just listen and absorb. I tried my best to do both. He made a few key points I’m going to share.

A Collection of Quotes I’m Digging.
I love to record verses/quotes that inspire, motivate, and move me. I’ve gathered several in the last few months through various social media outlets- Instagram, Pinterest, Facebook, blogs, etc. that I’d like to share. (Note some that I found are attributed, others are not.) Leave me a comment with a favorite quote of yours…I want to keep adding to my list! “Failure is success in progress.” “Vision without action is a daydream; action without vision is a nightmare.” -Chinese…

Taking Note from Garden & Gun CEO Rebecca Darwin.
Garden & Gun President and CEO Rebecca Darwin was just profiled in Publishing Executive on how she “created The New Yorker of the South.” I encourage you to read the full article here. As a loyal Garden & Gun reader + passionate marketeer, this piece captivated me — and also led me to Google her name to see if there were any other interviews/features of this extremely talented publisher (yeah, may have stalked her a little bit). She simply and pointedly conveyed…

Part 4: The Art of Attraction.
Part 1: Igniting Love of the Brand. I wrote about where the passion for the brand starts within the organization and the importance of that passion being contagious among employees. Part 2: Brand Boarding. How to get customers ‘on board’ with your brand. Part 3: Meeting Customers Where They Are. How to reach your customers and beyond. Last (but not least) Part 4: The Art of Attraction. I’ll conclude the series with this post. How to attract and retain your…
